I love being LeRoy’s Librarian!
I have been at LeRoy-Ostrander Schools since the fall of 1984 and as the Elementary Librarian since 2002. In 2005, I became the Librarian Director of the LeRoy Public Library . I came aboard for L-O's K-12 Librarian in the fall of 2007. My day starts at 7:45 AM in the LeRoy-Ostrander School's Library Media Center and ends at the LeRoy Public Library.
Other positions in our school over the past 35 years have been: Speech, Title I, Chapter I, LD, EBD Paraprofessional, the Elementary & High School Yearbook Advisor and Science Fair Coordinator for grades K-6th. I have also enjoyed co-coached summer girls softball, transporting L-O students after school for track, softball, baseball, wrestling, and to Summer Schools in Austin.
My childhood began in Iowa, south of Harmony, Minnesota living on a cattle/dairy/hog/crop farm, being the oldest of four children in our family. I graduated from Harmony High School, Rochester Vocational College and attended Winona State University for two years.
In 1974, I moved and fell in love with the LeRoy area. I have two children. A daughter, Michelle who is married to Jessica Frantzen. Both teach in Bryon, MN at Zumbro Education District and have one son, Beckett. My son, Bobby Lewison lives right here in LeRoy, and works as a pipe fitter for TFP and is married to Caryn, who is the Office Manager at the ALC through the Rochester Public Schools. They have two daughters, Sidney & Keira, both attend L-O Schools, along with their many cousins!
With my spare time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, being with my family and friends, traveling, photography (especially weddings & graduation pictures), reading, gardening, live theater, watching classical movies, and listening to music.
If you have any questions about the L-O library, please contact me at RBarnes@leroy.k12.mn.us or by calling at 507-324-5741 EXT 2237.
I am committed to education, our school, and community! What makes my life worth every minute is the wonderful students, staff, community members, and boards that I work with every day!
I scheduled Library & Computer classes for K-12 in the Library Media Center, High School Computer Lab & Conference Room. I also am the L-O administrator for the Renaissance Learning Program for Accelerated Reader.
