Nick Schmitz - Science 7/8, STEM 7/8
Welcome to L-O 2021-2022 school year! My name is Nick Schmitz and I will be teaching 7th and 8th grade Science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). This will be my first year teaching and I am excited for the opportunity to work with the 7th and 8th grade students. I live in Le Roy with my wife and 10 month old twins. I graduated from Southland High School and then Iowa State University (Go Cyclones!) with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology. In my not so available now with twins free time I like to watch sports, golf, camp, fish or just relax and spend time with my family.

Classroom Expectations: The STEM program is new this year and will focus on problem solving based learning through projects and will be a very hands on class. The Science class will be a combination of textbook work as well as lab work. I expect students to be on time and prepared with the required materials everyday (writing utensil, notebook, textbook, and any other assigned materials). I believe hands on learning is a great tool for some students to learn and I hope to get as much time in the lab as we can.
