Pennies for Patients - Money for Magnus 4/25-4/29
Magnus Rudlong is in the fifth grade at L-O Elementary School. He loves the outdoors, playing video games, animals, and is an amazing big brother to Soren who is a 3rd grade student. His favorite school lunch is Salisbury Steak.
Magnus’ illness came on suddenly and aggressively. Since the diagnosis, he has started on chemotherapy and unfortunately has had numerous setbacks and complications. Magnus has had a unique and painful journey so far, as he faces both leukemia and the devastating complications of rare, post-surgical blindness. He works hard to walk daily and to adjust to living in a non-seeing world. He continues chemo treatments at the hospital in Minneapolis, Minn.
Magnus continues to be brave every day. His patience and positivity is amazing. He is such a miracle and continues to find strength to get through these hard moments that make up the day. There is a Caring Bridge site for anyone wanting to send love and good vibes.
Next week is our Pennies for Patients Week and we will be supporting Magnus and his family on their medical journey. We will be showing our love and support through dress up days, activities, and donations (all of which will be going directly to the Rudlong family.) Monday 4/25 - Pennies for Pets
Dress Up Like Your Favorite Pet, Wear Animal Print, or Bring your Stuffed Pets or Wear Red which is a favorite color of Magnus’s.
Tuesday 4/26 - Nickels for Nickelodeon Day
Dress like your Favorite Nickelodeon Character or Wear Orange.
Wednesday 4/27 -Dimes for Disney Day
Dress like your favorite Disney Character or Wear Yellow.
Thursday 4/28 - Quarters & Gamer Day
Dress like Video Game Character or Wear Green
Friday 4/29 - Dollar Day & Superhero Day
Dress Like Your Favorite Superhero or Wear Blue
Hat Passes are available all week for a $1 per day or $5 for the whole week. Please see Mrs. Olson for the passes.
Any PK-12th grade classes that raise money for Magnus’s healthcare costs in the amount of:
$100 will receive an ice cream treat for each student.
$200 will receive an ice cream sundae party for whole class.
$300 will receive a big screen movie party w/popcorn and candy for whole class.
Collection Buckets are in your elementary classroom or 6-12th class advisor’s classroom.
